New Minelab GPX-5000

GPX-5000 Features

Fine Gold Timing
Fine Gold is a new Timing specially written for use with Monoloop coils. It runs quietly in most heavily mineralized ground & ‘hot rock’ ground. It is not as quiet as Enhance but it has noticeably more depth and is ultra-sensitive to small sub-gram nuggets. This Timing will be a real winner!

Salt / Gold Timing
Salt / Gold is again a new Timing, suitable for both Double-D and Monoloop coils. While this Timing is fabulous on mineralised salt flats, it also works quite well on some highly mineralised patches. The big difference you’ll find between this timing and the Salt-Coarse Timing found on the GPX 4800 & GPX-4500 is that Salt / Gold has a lot more sensitivity to small targets. Using Salt / Gold timing compared to the standard Salt-Coarse will give just as much depth, but improved small gold recovery. This timing also works great on wet sand at the beach.

Coin / Relic Timing
Coin / Relic is specially written for absolute neutral, benign soils. It gives increased depth in this neutral environment and will be good for relic or treasure hunters who are looking for maximum depth away from the mineralized grounds.

New Minelab GPX 500

Enhance Timing
The Enhance Timing on the GPX 5000 and 4800 is slightly improved from the 4500. Using feedback gathered from GPX-4500 users, the Enhance timing has been tweaked, to provide more positive target signals in mineralized ground.

Other Timings
In addition to these new Timings the GPX 5000 also includes 4 other popular Timings that have been available in previous models:

* Sensitive Smooth - still the preferred option for extremely mineralized soils
* Normal - good all round performance
* Sensitive Extra - the best on small gold in milder ground
* Sharp - greater depth on small and large gold in lower mineralisation

Improved Electronics
A lot of development and field testing has gone into the circuit board of the new GPX 5000 and 4800 to increase target sensitivity, and improve ground balance performance.
Always remember: A Stable Detector Finds more Gold.

Rx Gain Adjustment
The Rx gain adjustment has been increased from 15 to 20 calibrations. On the GPX-4500, you may have found that a setting of 12 gave too much chatter, but 11 was too quiet. Now with the extra calibrations you have an expanded range that improves your fine tuning ability.

6 Preset Search Modes
The GPX 5000 is loaded with 6 factory Search Modes to make it easy for all operators to just switch-on and go detecting. These Search Modes are to suit most common detecting scenarios, but a customer can then adapt them to suit their own preferences and detecting location.

Supplied with 2 Coils
Supplied as standard with each GPX 5000 is the very popular 11” Monoloop coil as well as the standard 11” Double-D coil.

Multi Period Sensing transmits, receives and analyses a stream of long and short pulses to SENSE GOLD whilst ignoring ground minerals.

Dual Voltage technology uses pulses with 2 voltage levels to put MORE POWER into the ground, enabling deeper detection.

Smart Electronic Timing Alignment uses mathematically precise Soil/Timing alignment for MAXIMUM DEPTH and sensitivity across ALL ground conditions.

Detectorpro Wader & Diver Adjustment (revised!)

Autor: Sven Stau , 2010

This is written for those who want to adjust their Wader for max. performance for the soil conditions they hunt in. It will run hotter than set by the factory, expect an increase of depth.

Please note:
• When you open up your earcup, you break the white warranty seal. If you are the original owner of the unit, it will no longer be covered by Detectorpro's orig. owner warranty. If you fail to adjust your unit properly, Detectorpro will to recalibrate it back to factory specs for a fee. Any adjustments you make are done at your own risk. If you
don't feel comfortable doing the adjustments, don't do them.
• Please be very careful when opening up the earcup with the electronics in it, wires
inside can be easily broken off.
• On some of the newer Waders DP changed manufacturers of the trimmer pots used.
Adjustments will have to be made in reverse direction. The unit I have pictured below dates 2005. Compare pot position and setting to yours.

There are 4 trimmer pots on the circuit board:
R1-----Ground Balance compensation
R2-----Frequency audio adjustment
Warning, do not adjust R2 unless it is absolutely necessary.
R3-----Discrimination bias control
R4-----Threshold

You must perform the adjustments in the following sequence.

STEP 1
Threshold adjustment
Set outside earcup sensitivity control to max.
Adjust R4 for some crackle/ snap/ pop sound.
The factory adjusts this control so the unit produces a relatively smooth sound at maximum sensitivity.
Adjusting R4 for snap/ crackle/ pop at max. sens. setting will increase detection depth, adjusting for more s/c/p will also increase the noise ratio. You can adjust this until you can no longer tolerate the noise. You can adjust too far so that the detector will not be a joy to use. But, you should be able to control the noise by reducing the sensitivity using the control on the earcup.

STEP 2
Discrimination adjustment
Set outside the earcup Disc. Control to max.
Adjust R3 trimmer pot using a “copper” penny until you get a solid smooth sound, then go the other direction until the sound breaks up..then back toward the smooth sound till it JUST gets smooth again. This is a critical adjustment.

STEP 3
Ground Balance adjustment
Set outside Disc. Control to minimum.
Adjust R1, using a ferrite pot core at about 2” from the searchcoil so you hear a faint audio or or no audio change.
I believe you can adjust the ground balance to your soil by bobbing the searchcoil up and down from 1 foot above the ground down to 2”. You want to make sure there is no audio change or a slight increase to adjust the unit slightly positive. This can be done on other motion disc. Metal detectors.

STEP 4
Audio adjustment
R2
Do not adjust unless you positively have to.
It adjusts the clarity of the audio produced when detecting a target.
If the target signal sounds crisp and clear, leave it a lone.
This is a multi turn trimmer pot, your on your own if you mis adjust this pot.

================================================================

From a reliable source, the Detectorpro VLF discriminating Wader/ Diver is basically amodified Fisher 1280x in a micro format. If you can obtain a Fisher 1280x Service Manualit will be possible to calibrate theWader/ Diver on a oscilloscope, using the information foundwithin.
